Hypertext Markup Language is the standard markup language for documents designed to be displayed in a web browser. It can be assisted by technologies such as Cascading Style Sheets and scripting languages such as JavaScript.
An HTMLtag is a special word or letter surrounded by angle brackets, < and >. You use tags to create HTMLelements, such as paragraphs or links.
Many elements have an opening tag and a closing tag — for example, ap

tag, followed by the paragraph text, followed by a closing</p>
tag.
